Accepted Items
Most everyday business waste is accepted in commercial dumpsters:
- General office trash (paper, packaging, food wrappers)
- Non-recyclable plastics and materials
- Food waste from restaurants and break rooms
- Cardboard (flattened, if not recycling separately)
- Wood and lumber scraps
- Yard waste and landscaping debris
- Old furniture and fixtures
- Broken equipment (non-electronic)
Prohibited Items
The following items are banned per Larimer County and Fort Collins regulations:
- Electronics (e-waste) — Banned from Colorado landfills since 2013. Includes computers, TVs, printers, monitors.
- Hazardous materials — Paints, solvents, pesticides, chemicals, automotive fluids
- Batteries — Lead-acid and lithium batteries require special disposal
- Appliances with refrigerants — Refrigerators, freezers, A/C units
- Bulk liquids — No free-standing liquids allowed
- Tires — Must be disposed of separately (accepted at Larimer County Landfill for fee)
- Medical or biological waste — Requires specialized disposal
